I have the clip on speaker phone, picked it up on closeout at VZ for
$10. Works MUCH better than my wifes buit in one. I just keep it in the
car. You can get one here:

Not only that but with the insurance you'll not get your StarTAC back. I
sent mine to Motorola and got a POS v60c back in exchange.

  3. Very true. They don't make 'em anymore.

Hopefully these last until AMPS service starts becoming really unreliable.

  4. I have one of those as well.
Doesn't beat the real Car Handsfree kits but, it's good for impromptu
    meetings and such.

I have a couple of Startac 7868's,one new and one
"Frankenstein"...they keypads seem to wear out on the fine chinese
manuufacturing. Every once in a while take them out to a fringe valley
and make a bunch of 611 test calls on all the phones from the same
place...the startacs sound much better than my Audiovox 9500 and Nokia
3585I but they don't perform as well. The 9500 holds a fringe analog
call much better and the Nokia beats them both for digital. There
isn't any wide open flat fringe areas to test out the phones. I want
the Startacs to work better, but they just don't, for me, after
numerous tries. There hard to move over to Sprint too. Most of the
modern phones get much better digital reception. Voice qulity can't be
    beat with the Startacs though.
Can you guys still read the startac screens, there getting dimmer or
    maybe..?
