How-to Back Up & Restore App Data, Contacts, and Media

    Back Up App Data:

    1. Open “Settings
    2. Scroll to “Personal
    3. Tap “Backup & reset
    4. Enable “Back up my data” to back up app data, settings, and passwords to your account
    5. Enable “Automatic restore” to allow app data, settings, and passwords to be restored when signing in with the backup account

    Back Up Contacts:

    1. Launch “Settings
    2. Scroll to and tap “Accounts
    3. Select an account type and the desired account to use for contact backup
    4. Enable “Contacts
    5. Tap “Menu” > “Sync Now

    NOTE: Contacts backed up using the method above can be automatically restored the next time you sign in with the backup account.

    Back up Media Files on a Windows Computer:

    1. Connect the Motorola device to your computer via USB
    2. Enable “Media device” / “File Transfer” when prompted or from the “Notification” area
    3. Open the File Explorer on the computer
    4. Locate and copy the desired media files on the phone storage
    5. Transfer the files in the desired backup location on the computer
    6. After the transfer is complete, eject the phone storage via system tray and safely disconnect the phone from the USB port

    Restore Media Files from a Windows PC:

    1. Connect the Motorola phone to your computer via USB
    2. Enable “Media device” / “File Transfer” at the prompt or from the “Notification” area
    3. Open the File Explorer on the computer
    4. Locate and copy the media file backups on the PC storage
    5. Transfer the files on the phone storage, preferably in the folders of origin
    6. Once the transfer is done, eject the phone storage via system tray and safely disconnect the phone from the USB port
