cannot get *228 to work

    I keep tryin to update my phone using the *228 and after about 2 minutes a voice recording comes on and says they are unabel to update to call Verizon Wireless CS .Ive tried it about times and still nothing.Not that it matters but I have a LG Voyager phone...is this something I should take to my local Verizon store to see if they can help
