Freedom is the name of the game in the mobile realm. But it is hard to enjoy the freedom your LG Lucid can give you if you have to be tied down to charging it often. Knowing how to keep the battery working for extended periods in the handset is a good thing to learn. Reading up online is one of the best things you can do to discover how to lengthen the battery life of your cell phone.

One of the first things to do to get longer battery life, especially on a smartphone that can handle 4G networks, is to use it less. That may not sound like a very good option, but there is no doubt it works. With the busy life that most Americans have, this may not be a valid choice. The next best thing to do is to turn down the brightness of the LG Lucid screen. Turn it down in the menus of the smartphone. This is one of the most powerful things a handset owner can do to save on the battery life. A related trick is to turn down the screen timeout to its lowest setting.

Turn down the amount of updates the smartphone goes through during the day. You can set the LG Lucid to check email at different intervals. Do you really need it to check every five minutes or so? If not, this is another way to give your Lucid longer time between recharges. Do the same for Facebook apps or other social apps. If you are a social "animal", there are still other ways to save on battery life. Perhaps you could do this step while sleeping.

Turn off wireless connections. Bluetooth is not used all the time. Wi-Fi is also not used all the time. If you have your LG Lucid set to seek out Wi-Fi networks at all times, this can be limited or turned off. The bluetooth is always listening for a connection as well. This drains the battery and if you really do not need it seeking all the time, turn it down or off in the menus. The LG Lucid has a somewhat new feature called "Wi-Fi Direct". It is a direct connection to other Wi-Fi devices without using a router. Not only could this invite a "rogue" device to connect to your smartphone, it uses the battery. As with the others, you can turn it off.

A ringtone uses less battery power than a vibrating alert. Replacing or substituting a really low sound for a ringtone instead of using the vibration is a way to save on battery juice. The alert that uses the vibrating effect is actuated with an electric motor. This is a great power hog even if it is convenient in a movie theater or during business meetings. Perhaps you could turn off all audible and "felt" alerts and place the Lucid in view? The smartest way to get longer battery life is to turn on the "power saver mode" for Android. The Lucid may have a slightly older version of this mobile operating system, but the power saver mode is there. It will reduce the operations of the smartphone, but will also increase the time between battery recharges on the LG Lucid.

This would all apply to the LG Lucid 2 as well :)

Do you know of a quick way to avoid having back-round services running all of the time? I have seen a few apps that work for some stuff but not everything. I would love for a single app that could quickly scan any phone and turn off everything that is not on say a "safe list".
