So i have ran into a situation that seems rather threatening. Someone claims that if i do not comply with their request to keep a secret, that they can have a detective pull my text messages and will show incriminating text to my employer to cause me to lose my job. How could someone be able to violate privacy laws like this?

This same individual did it to someone i know (who had at&t and US cellular) and got the text message log.

This person is not involved in law enforcement.

What does someone do in this situation? If i tell Verizon not to release my information to anyone without a warrant, dont they have to comply?
