i just canceled with verizon without having to pay the cancelation fee if any one wants to do this check this out and it only took me 20 minutes to do it. oh and this involves the text message fee that will go in effect march 1st this was the reason i was able to get out of the contract.

    1. Call *611
    2. Select 4 on options
    3. Select 2 which should be cancellations
    4. Say good day I read about the text message increase and as stated in my contract I would like to cancel. And read them this:

UNLESS OTHERWISE PROHIBITED BY LAW, WE CAN ALSO CHANGE PRICES AND ANY OTHER CONDITIONS IN THIS AGREEMENT AT ANY TIME BY SENDING YOU WRITTEN NOTICE PRIOR TO THE BILLING PERIOD IN WHICH THE CHANGES WOULD GO INTO EFFECT. IF YOU CHOOSE TO USE YOUR SERVICE AFTER THAT POINT, YOU'RE ACCEPTING THE CHANGES. IF THE CHANGES HAVE A MATERIAL ADVERSE EFFECT ON YOU, HOWEVER, YOU CAN END THE AFFECTED SERVICE, HOWEVER, YOU CAN END THE AFFECTED SERVICE, WITHOUT ANY EARLY TERMINATION FEE, JUST BY CALLING US WITHIN 60 DAYS AFTER WE SEND NOTICE OF THE CHANGE."

also stated you can use this if they state Text messaging is not part of your plan/contract

    Charges and Fees We Set
∞ You agree to pay all access, usage, and other charges and fees we bill you or that the user of your wireless phone accepted, even if you weren't the user of your wireless phone and didn't authorize its use. These include Federal Universal Service, Regulatory and Administrative Charges, and may also include other charges related to our governmental costs. We set these charges. They aren't taxes, aren't required by law, are kept by us in whole or in part, and the amounts and what's included are subject to change. You may have to pay fees to begin service or reconnect suspended service. Usage charges may vary depending on where, when, and how you call. You have a Home Rate and Coverage Area and a Local Calling Area (which may be different). When you call from inside a Local Calling Area to somewhere outside of it, or call from anywhere outside a Local Calling Area, there may be toll, regional calling, or long distance charges in addition to airtime. (We provide or select the long distance service for calls on our network.) When you make a call inside your Local Calling Area that uses a local phone company's lines (for example, a call to a typical home phone number), we may charge landline or connection fees. We charge airtime for most calls, including toll-free and operator-assisted calls. Additional features and services such as operator or directory assistance, call dialing, calling card use, Call Forwarding, data calls, automatic call delivery, voice mail, text messaging, and wireless Internet access, may have additional charges. Features such as Call Waiting, Call Forwarding, or 3-Way Calling involve multiple calls and multiple charges.

as you can see text is included

    5. If they say there is no adverse effect ask them to state where that is defined in contract. And more over state that it is that you do not agree with the contract presented to you.

    6. They will put you on hold and come back and let you off scott free

    **UPDATE**
7.N19ghtmare posts You can not cancel your contract and sign back up to get a new phone. You must wait 90 days if you plan on doing so. If you want to get right back on it, you would have to sign up under someone else's name and SS number.

    8. If you first do not succeed just hang up and try again if they are gonna do it they will within the first 10 minutes after that hang up and get a different person. Some are easy some are hardcore.

    9. You can port numbers if it is important have them note account that it is to be closed at such and such date. Then call back again and tell them you want to port number before it is canceled. Again you may need to call a couple more time.

this really works took about 15 minutes but i didn't have to pay the 175 fee :)
sorry if this has been posted

Use PlanetFeedback: Voice of One, Power of Many to get a hold of Executive Relations. You can tell them different things, but you could try finding a location that doesn't have any Verizon service and tell them that you are moving there. Many carriers are normally willing to let you out of a contract if it means it saves them from having to deal with complaints. You can also use the United States and Canada BBB Consumer and Business Reviews, Reports, Ratings, Complaints and Accredited Business Listings as a means out. Just be polite with any method you use.

But are text messaging rates really going up? I mean c'mon man! Text messages cost the carriers nothing to send, so why do they keep raising the rates? Soon wireless plans will go back to costing too much for anyone to afford!

Just got off the phone - I'm OUT!!! I had to focus on the change in my administrative cost - it went from .82 to .95 (I also lied when they asked why I wanted to terminate and said my husband just lost his job - I figured a little sympathy would help). They didn't want to budge on the FUSC that changed, to I focused on the other. I just kept re-reading the 'Our Rights to Make Changes' paragraph in the contract that said I had 60 days to get out after a change, and she gave in in about 10 minutes. I did have to let her go ahead and terminate the account, but it doesn't get disconnected until the 18th-the end of my billing cycle. She wouldn't let me go month to month, but I didn't care.

o.k. so what if I just extended my contract 2 years twice on my family share plan in order to get a blackberry storm $300 off and a Samsung omnia $400 off...??? i could turn my omnia in as i got it two weeks ago for free...

my bill is 160 for 2 people and I would like to get us both the unlimited talk and text plan $40 each which is via pagepluscellular.com and runs on verizons own network...

If you just signed a new contract, there most likely have not been any changes to the terms since you last signed a contract. You'll need to wait until there is a change (like the text messaging increase from a few years ago).

Ok I got all of this, now my question is this. My girlfriend is trying to get out of her plan a couple months early so we can switch to sprint. She got her contract in nov 07. Is there anyway I can find out what verizon has changed to use as leverage to get out of the contract? do you think I can use the administrative fee change that the other user just used? Also if I tell them i'm moving to a place where there is no service they will let me go I know that, but do you have to give proof that you are moving there? or just find a place there they don't have coverage?

I started my contract march of 2009. there has been a change in FUSC in the past month. I have called twice and they are refusing to budge. I keep getting told it is a fed charge not a verizon surcharge. any suggestions on how to get out of my contract
