    Clear App Cache / Data:

NOTE: In case one of your apps freezes, crashes, takes up too much storage inexplicable or otherwise doesn’t work as intended, you can try fixing these problems by clearing the app’s cache / data.

WARNING! Clearing an app’s data will delete all your personal information stored within the app. This includes high scores, save files, profiles, login and credit card information etc. To avoid losing personal data, clear only the app’s cache.

    1. Open the apps drawer
    2. Launch “Settings
    3. Scroll to “Phone
    4. Tap “Apps
    5. Select the desired app and tap “Storage
    6. Tap “Clear cache
    7. Tap “Clear data” > “OK” if necessary (read WARNING above)

    Clear the Cache Partition:

NOTE: In case your phone freezes, crashes, runs out of storage inexplicably etc. you can try fixing these problems by clearing the phone’s cache partition. This can have a similar effect as a factory reset without losing any personal data.

    1. First make sure the phone is turned off
    2. Press and hold “Volume Down
    3. Press & hold “Power” until the phone vibrates, then release the key
    4. When the phone shows the “hTC download menu”, release “Volume down
    5. While in the menu, press “Volume down” repeatedly to navigate to and highlight “reboot to bootloader
    6. Press “Power” to select the highlighted option
    7. Press “Volume down” to highlight “Boot to Recovery Mode
    8. Press “Power
    9. Highlight “wipe cache partition” and press “Power
    10. Once the cache is wiped, make sure “reboot system now” is highlighted and press “Power

NOTE: If clearing the cache partition didn’t solve the problems, you can visit this thread for instructions on how to factory reset the HTC 10.

Reboot in Safe Mode to Remove an App:

NOTE: In case you have installed a third party app that causes problems on your phone and prevents you from removing it, you should be able to uninstall the app from within Safe Mode. In this mode, all third party apps are disabled.

    1. Press and hold “Power” on the home screen
    2. From the “Phone Options” pop-up, tap and hold “Power off"
    3. At the “Reboot to Safe Mode” prompt, tap “Restart
    4. After the phone reboots, a “Safe Mode” watermark should be visible in the lower-left area of the home screen
    5. To remove an application, first open “Settings
    6. Next, scroll to “Phone” and tap “Apps
    7. Swipe to “Downloaded
    8. Select the desired app and tap “Uninstall” > “OK

This post is outdated. My HTC 10 does not have the settings menu items specified here and the instructions do not work after clicking to Boot to Recovery Mode. Can you please update this post.

After you click on "Boot to Recovery Mode" there should be the HTC logo, and then a screen showing a big exclamation mark. At this screen, press and hold "Power" and tap "Volume up"; the "Android Recovery screen should appear". Make sure you release "Power" as soon as you're in Recovery.

Once in Recovery, press "Volume Down" to highlight "Wipe cache partition" and press "Power". Confirm and reboot.

    This should work :)
