How-to HTC Desire 530: Back Up & Restore Data Locally or via HTC Backup

    Back Up Data via Google Drive:

    1. Go to the phone’s “Settings” menu
    2. Scroll to and tap “Backup & reset
    3. Tap “Backup account
    4. Select “HTC Account” and, if necessary, sign in with your HTC account (or alternatively your Google / Facebook account)
    5. From the “Cloud Storage” menu, select “Google Drive” and tap “OK
    6. If needed, sign in with your Google account to access Google Drive
    7. Tap “Back up now
    8. Optionally you can also enable “Automatic Backup

    NOTE: To allow your phone to create automatic daily backups over Wi-Fi, go to “Settings” > “Back up phone daily over Wi-Fi”.

    Restore Data from Google Drive:

    1. After you first reboot your phone after a factory reset or without an account signed in, you will be prompted to “Restore from HTC Backup
    2. Select to restore data
    3. Sign in with your backup account and access the history menu
    4. Select the desired backup and tap “Next
    5. If necessary, sign in with your Google account and allow “Drive” to connect
    6. Once the files have been restored, tap “Next

    Back Up and Restore Data Locally

    Back Up Contacts on SD Card / Storage:

    1. Tap “Phone” on the home screen
    2. Access “Phone
    3. Tap “Menu” > “Manage contacts
    4. Tap “Import / Export contacts” and select to “Export to SD Card” or “Export to phone storage
    5. Select an account
    6. Tap “Yes” to set a password for the backup file
    7. Tap “OK” to confirm

    Restore Contacts from Storage / SD Card:

    1. Launch “People
    2. Tap “Menu” > “Manage Contacts
    3. Go to “Import / Export contacts
    4. Select to “Import from SD” or “Import from storage
    5. Choose an account if necessary, and select the backup file you want to restore
    6. Tap “OK
    7. If the backup file is protected by a password, enter it and tap “OK” to continue

    Back Up & Restore Tasks:

    1. Open the apps drawer
    2. Launch “Tasks
    3. Tap “Menu” > “Import / Export
    4. Select to “Export to SD card

    NOTE: To restore tasks, open “Tasks” and tap “Menu” > “Import / Export” > “Import from SD”. If needed, follow the on-screen steps to complete the process.

    Back Up Dictionaries:

    1. Open “Settings
    2. Scroll to, and tap “Language & Keyboard
    3. Tap “HTC Sense input” and access “Personal dictionary
    4. Tap “Menu” and select to “Back up to storage” or “Back up to email
    5. Tap “OK” to confirm

    Back Up Messages:

    1. Tap “Messages” on the home screen
    2. Tap “Menu
    3. Access “Backup / Restore SMS
    4. Tap “Back up” > “Back up SMS
    5. Optionally, you can set a password for the backup file
    6. Enter a name for the file
    7. Tap “OK

    Back Up Messages via Email:

    1. Launch “Messages
    2. Tap “Menu” > “Back up / Restore SMS
    3. Tap “Back up” > “Back up SMS via email
    4. Select whether you want to password-protect the file
    5. Send the email and attachment to your own email address

    NOTE: To restore messages from an email, open the email, download the backup attachment, and import it using “Messages”
