How-to HTC Desire 530: Tips & Tricks to Conserve Battery Life

    Enable Battery Saving Mode:

    1. Open the apps drawer
    2. Launch “Settings
    3. Scroll to “Personal” and tap “Power
    4. Tap “Power saver” and check the boxes associated with the power saving features you want to turn on
    5. To enable “Power saver”, tap the switch

    Disable Connectivity When Unused:

    NOTE: By disabling Wi-Fi, Hotspot, Bluetooth, and GPS when unused, you can improve battery life in the long run.

    1. Open “Settings
    2. Tap the “Wi-Fi” and “Bluetooth” switches to disable these options
    3. Under “Wireless & Networks”, tap “More
    4. Tap “Mobile network sharing” and turn off “Mobile hotspot
    5. Go back to “Settings” and scroll to “Personal
    6. Tap “Location” (GPS) > “Mode” and select “Battery saving

    Temporarily Switch to 2G Networks:

    NOTE: If your phone runs low on battery and you don’t have quick access to a wall socket or battery bank, you can conserve battery life until the next recharge by temporarily switching to 2G networks.

    1. Go to “Settings
    2. Tap “Mobile data
    3. Tap “Network mode
    4. Select “GSM only

    Lower the Screen Brightness and Timeout Duration:

    1. Launch “Settings
    2. Scroll to “Phone” and tap “Display & Gestures
    3. Tap “Brightness level
    4. Disable “Automatic brightness” if necessary, and drag the brightness slider to the left side of the screen to decrease luminosity
    5. Go back to “Display & Gestures
    6. Tap “Screen timeout
    7. Select a lower timeout value such as “15 seconds

    Minimize Third Party App Usage:

    NOTE: Certain third party apps can perform regular background processes, and thus they can affect battery life even when they are not actively used. By removing or disabling unused third party apps, you might improve battery life in the long run.

    1. Open the apps drawer and launch “Settings
    2. Scroll to “Phone” and tap “Apps
    3. Go to “Downloaded
    4. Select the desired application
    5. Tap “Disable” to turn the app Off
    6. To remove the app from the phone, tap “Uninstall” > “OK

    Change Sync Settings And Disable Background Sync:

    NOTE: By changing your account’s settings to sync less data, you might be able to improve battery life in the long run.

    1. Open “Settings
    2. Scroll to and tap “Accounts & sync
    3. Select an application to disable background sync for
    4. To access more sync options, select an account type and an account

    Keep the OS Updated:

    NOTE: Software updates can include battery life improvements, and thus it’s recommended to keep the OS up to date at all times. To do this:

    1. Open “Settings
    2. Scroll to “Phone” and tap “About
    3. Tap “Software information
    4. Tap “Check now” and, if necessary, follow the on-screen steps to download and install the available update(s)
