How-to HTC U12+: Back Up App Data, Contacts, and Media

    Back Up App Data:

    1. Launch “Settings
    2. Go to “Backup and reset
    3. Tap “Backup account
    4. Select an existing account or tap “Google account” > “add account
    5. Enable “Back up my data” and “Backup account

    Back Up Contacts on a Google or HTC Account:

    1. Make sure the phone is connected to an active Wi-Fi network
    2. Open “Settings
    3. Go to “Backup and reset
    4. Select “Google account” or “HTC account
    5. If you want the device to perform automatic daily backups over Wi-Fi, enable “Automatic backup
    6. To back up contacts manually, check “Contacts” and tap “Back up now

    Back Up Media Files on a Windows PC:

    1. Connect the Android phone to the PC via USB
    2. On the phone, enable “File Transfer” / “Media device” when prompted or from the Notification area
    3. Open the File Explorer on the computer
    4. Locate the media files on the phone and transfer the files to the desired backup location on the computer
    5. Once done, you can safely disconnect the device from the USB port

    Back Up Media Files on a Mac:

    1. Connect the Android device to the Mac via USB
    2. Enable “Media device” / “File Transfer” on the phone
    3. Launch the File Finder on the Mac and navigate to the media files on the phone
    4. Copy and paste the files to the desired backup location on the Mac
    5. Once done, drag the phone’s virtual drive from the desktop and drop it over the “trash can” icon
    6. You can safely disconnect the device from the USB port
