How-to HTC U12+: Restore App Data, Contacts, and Media Files

    NOTE: You can visit this thread for instructions on how to back up app data, contacts, and media files.

    Restore App Data:

    1. Connect the HTC device to an active Wi-Fi network
    2. Open “Settings
    3. Go to “Backup and reset” > “Restore from HTC backup
    4. Follow the on-screen prompts to complete the process

    Restore Contacts from an Account:

    1. Open “Settings
    2. Access “Personal
    3. Go to “Accounts & Sync
    4. Log in with the desired HTC or Google backup account
    5. Make sure “Contacts” is checked
    6. Tap “Menu” > “Sync Now

    Restore Media files from a PC:

    1. Connect the Android device to the computer via USB
    2. On the phone, enable “File Transfer” / “Media device” when prompted or from the Notification area
    3. Open the File Explorer on the computer
    4. Locate the media file backups on the computer
    5. Copy and transfer the files to the phone storage, preferably in the folders of origin or the “Media” folder
    6. Once done, eject the phone storage and safely disconnect the device from the USB port

    Restore Media Files from a Mac:

    1. Establish a USB connection between the Mac and the phone
    2. On the handset, enable “File Transfer” / “Media device” at the prompt or from the Notification area
    3. Open the File Finder on the Mac
    4. Navigate to the media file backups on the computer
    5. Copy and paste the files to the phone storage, preferably in the folders of origin
    6. Once done, drag the phone’s virtual drive from the desktop and drop it over the “Trash can” to eject it
