I switched from AT&T to Verizon. Calling Canada.

    I never said AT&T and Verizon are the only two that provide service
    within Canada. All I said is that I have to have it. My old Sprint
    service worked in Canada but I got tired of paying sprint 75 cents a
    minute for the privilege. I can't speak for NYC but for Denver you
    need to sign up for the Canada plan to be able to treat Canada like
    the rest of the USA. For 10 dollars a month it knocks down the border
    so to speak.
