How-to iPhone 7: Transfer and Set Custom Ringtone & Notification Sounds; Change Emergency Alert Settings

    Transfer Audio Files from a PC / Mac via iTunes:

    1. Launch iTunes on the computer
    2. Connect the iPhone to your computer via the Lightning cable
    3. Click the iPhone in iTunes once it connects (if necessary, click “View” > “Hide sidebar”)
    4. Go to the “Music” tab and enable “Sync Music
    5. Choose to sync “Selected playlists, artists, albums, and genres” or “Entire music library
    6. To sync voice memos and music videos, enable “Include voice memos” and “Include music videos
    7. Click “Apply” to begin the sync
    8. Once done, eject the phone storage via system tray (Windows OS) or by dragging the virtual drive from the desktop and into the “trash can” icon (Mac)
    9. Safely disconnect the phone form the USB port

    Change the General Ringtone:

    1. Go to “Settings
    2. Tap “Sound” > “Ringtone
    3. Scroll to, and tap the ringtone you want to use
    4. Press “Home” to confirm

    Change the Ringtone of a Specific Contact:

    1. Open “Settings
    2. Tap “Sound
    3. Go to “Ringtone
    4. Scroll to and tap the ringtone you want to use
    5. Press “Home

    Change the Ringtone of a Specific Contact:

    1. Open “Phone
    2. Go to “Contacts
    3. Select the contact whose ringtone you want to change and tap “Edit
    4. Tap “Ringtone” and select the desired ringtone
    5. Tap “Done

    Change the Notification Sound for Incoming Email:

    1. Open “Settings” and tap “Sounds
    2. Tap “New Mail
    3. Change the “Alert Tones” and “Vibration” options as desired
    4. Optionally, you can disable “Alert Tones” by setting the option to “None

    Manage Emergency Alerts:

    1. Launch “Settings
    2. Access “Notifications
    3. Scroll down to and tap “Government Alerts
    4. Tap the slider next to “AMBER Alerts” and “Emergency Alerts” to turn off these features
