Is Touch ID a must for full trade-in value?

I had the home button replaced on an iPhone 5s that I am thinking about using on a trade-in. Once replaced, Touch ID no longer works. When the phone boots up, there is a message that says, “Unable to activate Touch ID on this iPhone.”

Verizon is offering the same amount for an iPhone 5 and an iPhone 5s. So, it would seem reasonable to assume that the fact that the iPhone 5s has lost Touch ID ability (rendering that function the same as a 5) should not lower the value of the trade-in value of the 5s.

Does this seem like a logical conclusion to draw?

    Thanks.
