LG® VX6000 and Radio Shack

My opinion, I would buy it from the service provider, that being
Verizon. I would by nothing from Radio Shackup. Why involve a 3rd
party? I love my VX-6000, and love the fact, I don't need to have the
melodies that come with it if I choose not too. I can set my ringer to
my favorite mp3, using the data cable I purchased from Verizon. Don't
waste your time getting the software, just use bitpim. Sound is great,
connections are great, I can't see anything bad about this phone. As
far as the firmware? Verizon can install that for you if you require
an upgrade. Radio Shackup will probably charge you on your new credit
card. I have been with Verizon for 5 1/2 years. and I do not see
myself going elsewhere. Verizon has way more clout than Radio Shackup,
who are just in the middle, scraping off both ends.

Simple, just turn it on and check the firmware revision. (MENU, 9, 9, 2)
that should show the firmware version even if the phone isn't programmed
yet). You can do this before you even purchase the phone. The latest version
is 06 but I have 05 and will probably keep it that way in case I want to use
the speakerphone hack (which I understand doesn't work with 06 firmware).

Not sure if future dial has a cable for it, but there are several other
cables available. I use the data pilot cable, which is very similar if not
the same as the future dial cable. Just be sure that the cable you get is
FOR the VX6000, since it uses a different connector for the phone than any
    previous LG models.

Love it! The ability to transfer pics to/from the phone, and also ringers
(midi files, mp3s resampled and shortened) using BITPIM is very nice!

It also happens to be very good on signal ability and sound quality.

Can't help ya there. But if you are going to RS they should be able to help
since they are also Sprint dealers usually. Depends on your Sprint agreement
    really.

I got my 6000 from RS in early Dec. First time I've gotten a phone from
them. Usually get it right from Verizone wireless. Good experience, no
    problems. Your mileage may vary!
