How-to LG G6: Back Up App Data, Contacts & Media Files

    Back Up App Data:

    1. Launch “Settings
    2. Access the “General” tab
    3. Tap “Backup & reset” under “Phone management
    4. Under “Google Backup”, tap “Back up my data
    5. Make sure “Back up my data” is enabled

    Back Up Contacts on an LG Account:

    1. Launch “Settings
    2. Go to the “General” tab
    3. Scroll to “Phone Management” and tap “Backup & reset
    4. Tap “LG Backup” > “Backup & restore
    5. Tap “Back up data” and select “SD card
    6. At the prompt, sign in with your LG Account
    7. Tap “Personal data” and deselect the other options
    8. Expand “Personal data” and make sure “Contacts” is selected
    9. Tap “Start” to begin the sync
    10. Once complete, tap “Done

    Back Up Contacts to an SD Card:

    1. Launch “Settings
    2. Go to the “General” tab
    3. Under “Phone Management”, tap “Backup & reset
    4. Tap “LG Backup” > “Backup & restore
    5. Tap “Backup data” > “SD Card
    6. Select the items you want to back up and tap “Start
    7. At the “Backup completed” pop-up, tap “Done

    Back Up Media Files:

    1. Launch “Settings
    2. Tap “Backup & reset” under “Phone management
    3. Tap “LG Backup” > “Backup & restore
    4. Enable “Media data” and deselect the other options
    5. Expand “Media data” and select the files you want to back up
    6. Tap “Start” to begin the process
    7. Once completed, tap “Done

    Back Up Media Files on a Windows PC:

    1. Connect the LG G6 to your computer via USB
    2. Enable “File Transfer” / “Media Sync” when prompted or from the “Notification” area
    3. Open the File Explorer on the computer
    4. Navigate to and copy the desired media files (or .sbf backup files) on the phone
    5. Transfer the files in the desired backup location on the computer
    6. After the transfer ends, eject the phone storage via system tray
    7. You can safely disconnect the phone from the USB cord
