WARNING! When you master reset your phone, all your personal data stored on the phone’s internal memory will be deleted. This includes media files, ringtones, contacts, downloaded content, apps etc. In addition, all settings will be restored to factory values. However, data stored on the SIM and SD cards will not be affected.

NOTE: You can visit this thread for instructions on how to back up data on the LG device, and this thread for instructions on how to restore data.

    Factory Reset via Settings:

    1. Open “Settings
    2. If necessary, go to the “General” tab
    3. Tap “Backup & reset
    4. Tick or clear the check boxes associated with “Back up my data” and “Automatic restore
    5. Tap “Backup account” and if needed, sign in with your Google backup account
    6. Tap “Factory data reset
    7. Optionally, tap “Erase SD Card” too. WARNING! If you enable this option, all data on the SD card will be deleted
    8. Tap “Reset phone” > “Next
    9. When ready, tap “Delete all” > “OK” to confirm and reset your device

    Factory Reset via Recovery:

NOTE: In case you are unable to factory reset your device using the method above, alternatively you can reset your device from the Android Recovery menu, which can be accessed by performing the following:

    1. First ensure the phone is powered OFF
    2. Press and hold “Power” and “Volume Down” at the same time
    3. At the “LG” logo, release and quickly re-hold “Power
    4. At the “Factory data reset” screen, release all keys
    5. In the menu, press “Volume down” repeatedly to navigate to and highlight “Yes
    6. Press “Power” to select the highlighted option
    7. When prompted to “Erase all user data and restore default settings” highlight “Yes” using “Volume down
    8. Press “Power” to confirm and reset your device

    Check for OS Updates:

NOTE: After you factory reset your device, it’s recommended to check if new software updates are available for download. To do this:

    1. Open “Settings
    2. Access the “General” tab
    3. Scroll to and tap “About phone
    4. Tap “Software info” and check if a new update is available
    5. If applicable, follow the on-screen steps to install any available updates

NOTE: the process will require a reboot.
