How-to LG Lucid 3: Clear the App Cache / Cache Partition, and Reboot in Safe Mode to Remove Malicious Apps

    Clearing the App Cache / Data:

    If one of your applications is not working correctly, you can try and fix it by clearing the app's cache, or by clearing the data in some extreme cases. Clearing the app's cache can fix these problems without losing personal data. However, if clearing the cache fails, you can clear the app's data too. WARNING! Clearing an app's data will result in the deletion of personal data stored within the app, such as saved games, settings, credit card and log in information.

    1. Press the "Menu" key while on the home screen
    2. Tap "System Settings"
    3. Tap "General"
    4. Under "Device", tap "Apps"
    5. Swipe to the "All" screen and select the desired application
    6. Tap "Clear cache"
    7. If necessary, tap "Clear data"
    8. When prompted, tap "OK" to confirm

    Wiping the Phone's Cache Partition:

    NOTE: When considering master resetting your device in an attempt to fix certain issues, it's always a recommended idea to try and fix these problems by clearing the cache partition fist. Unlike a master reset, clearing a phone's cache partition will not result in the deletion of personal data stored on the phone's internal memory. To wipe the phone's cache:

    1. Tap the "Apps" icon while on the home screen
    2. Tap "Settings"
    3. Access the "General" tab
    4. Go to "Storage"
    5. Wait for the smartphone to finish calculating the data
    6. Tap "Cached data" > "OK"
    7. Wait for the cached data to clear. This may take several seconds or more, depending on the amount of data that is being processed.
    8. Once the process is complete, the screen will refresh and cached data will no longer be listed

    Safe Mode

    NOTE: rebooting your phone in safe mode allows you to remove malicious third party apps that would otherwise prevent you from uninstalling them, in normal mode. In Safe Mode, all third party applications are disabled.

    Enabling Safe Mode and Uninstalling an App:

    While viewing the home screen, press and hold "Power"
    From the pop-up, tap and hold "Power off"
    Review the information in the "Reboot to safe mode" screen, and press "OK"
    Once the smartphone reboots, you should see a "Safe mode" label in the lower-left corner of the screen
    To uninstall an app, press "Menu" while on the home screen
    Go to "System settings"
    Tap "General"
    Under "Device", tap "Apps"
    Swipe to the "All" screen
    Select the application that you wish to remove
    Tap "Uninstall" > "OK" to confirm
    To exit safe mode, press and hold the "Power" key, and tap "Power off and restart" > "OK"
