How-to LG V20: Back Up App Data, Contacts & Media Files

    Back Up App Data:

    1. Tap “Apps” on the home screen
    2. Open “Settings
    3. Access the “General” tab if necessary
    4. Tap “Backup & reset
    5. Turn on “Back up my data

    Back Up Contacts:

    1. Launch “Settings
    2. Go to the “General” tab
    3. Tap “Backup & reset” > “LG Backup
    4. Tap “Backup & restore
    5. Tap “Back up data” and ensure “LG Cloud” is turned on
    6. Sign in with your LG account if prompted
    7. Select “Personal data” and deselect the other options
    8. Expand the “Personal data” option and ensure “Contacts” is checked
    9. Tap “Start” to begin the backup, and tap “Done” when completed

    Back Up Contacts to SD Card:

    1. Launch “Settings
    2. Tap “Backup & reset” in the “General” tab
    3. Tap “LG Backup” > “Backup & restore
    4. Tap “Back up data” > “SD Card
    5. Select the items you want to back up and tap “Start
    6. When the backup is finished, tap “Done

    Back Up Media Files on the Phone Storage:

    1. Open “Settings
    2. Access the “General” tab
    3. Tap “Backup & reset” > “LG Backup
    4. Tap “Backup & restore
    5. Select “Media data” and deselect the other options
    6. Expand “Media data” and select the media files you want to back up
    7. Tap “Start” > “Done

    Back Up Media Files on a Windows PC:

    1. Connect the LG V20 to your PC via USB
    2. Turn on “Media sync (MTP)” / “File Transfer (MTP)” when prompted or from the “Notification” area
    3. Launch the File Explorer on the PC and locate the desired media files or “.sbf” backup files on the phone storage
    4. Copy the files and transfer them in the desired backup location on the PC storage
    5. Once the transfer is done, eject the phone storage via system tray
    6. Safely disconnect the LG V20 from the USB port
