How-to LG V30: Clear App Cache/Data; Wipe the Cache Partition; Reboot to Safe Mode

    Clear an App Cache/Data:

    NOTE: If one of your apps doesn’t work as intended or takes up too much storage inexplicably, you can try solving these problems by clearing the app’s cache and/or data.

    WARNING! By clearing the app’s data, all your personal information stored in the app, including save files, user profiles, login information etc. will be deleted. To avoid losing personal app data, clear ONLY the app’s cache.

    1. Open “Settings” and go to “Phone Management
    2. Access the “General” tab if necessary and tap “Apps
    3. Select the desired app
    4. Tap “Storage” > “Clear cache
    5. If clearing the app’s cache didn’t fix the issues, tap “Clear data” > “OK(check WARNING above)

    Wipe the Cache Partition:

    NOTE: If your phone freezes, crashes, doesn’t work as intended and you’re considering a factory reset, alternatively you can try solving these issues by clearing the phone’s cache partition. This can have results similar to a factory reset without losing any personal data on the device.

    1. Open “Settings
    2. Access “Phone Management
    3. Tap “Storage” and wait for the phone to finish calculating data
    4. Tap “Cached data” > “Yes” to clear the cache

    NOTE: If clearing the cache didn’t help, you can check this thread for a guide on how to factory reset the device.

    Reboot to Safe Mode and Remove an App:

    NOTE: If one of your third-party apps causes issues and prevents you from removing it, you should be able to uninstall the app while in Safe Mode where all third-party apps are disabled by default.

    1. Press and hold “Power” on the home screen
    2. In the pop-up window, tap and hold “Power Off
    3. At the “Safe Mode” prompt tap “OK
    4. After the phone reboots, a “Safe Mode” watermark should be visible in the lower area of the home screen
    5. Access “Settings” and go to the “General” tab if necessary
    6. Access “Apps” and go to “All
    7. Select the desired app and tap “Uninstall” > “OK
    8. To exit Safe Mode, reboot your phone
