How-to LG V40 ThinQ: Factory Reset via Settings or Android Recovery

    WARNING! When you factory reset your phone, all of your personal data stored on the device’s internal memory will be deleted, including ringtones, contacts, media files, downloaded content etc. while settings will be restored to factory values. Data located on the SD storage and SIM card won’t be affected.

    NOTE: Before you reset the phone, you can check this thread for a guide on how to back up data, and this thread for a guide on restoring data.

    Factory Reset via Settings:

    1. Launch “Settings
    2. Access “Phone Management” > “Backup & Reset
    3. Tick or clear the check boxes associated with “Back up my data” and “Automatic Restore
    4. Tap “Backup account
    5. Select the desired account and tap “Factory data reset
    6. Optionally, choose whether to “Erase SD Card” as well
    7. In case your phone is protected by a lock screen, enter your PIN/password and tap “Continue
    8. When ready, tap “Delete all” > “Reset

    Factory Reset via Android Recovery:

    NOTE: If your device crashes, freezes or otherwise prevents you from resetting it using the method above, alternatively you can try resetting the device using hardware keys and Recovery.

    1. Turn the phone Off
    2. Press and hold “Power” and “Volume down” simultaneously
    3. At the LG screen, release and quickly press “Power
    4. Release the buttons at the “Factory data reset” screen
    5. Press “Volume down” repeatedly to navigate the menu and highlight “Yes
    6. Press “Power” to select the option
    7. When prompted to “Erase all user data and restore defaults” highlight “Yes” using the volume buttons and press “Power” to confirm
