WARNING! When you factory reset your device, all your personal data stored on the phone’s internal memory will be deleted, including ringtones and other media files, contacts, applications and downloaded content etc. Furthermore, all settings will be restored to factory values, however, data located on the SIM and SD cards will not be affected by the reset.

NOTE: Before you factory reset your phone, you can check this guide on how to back up and restore personal data.

    Factory Reset via Settings:

    1. Open “Settings
    2. Tap “Backup & reset” under “Personal
    3. If your phone is protected by a lock screen, enter your password/PIN/pattern to proceed
    4. Tap “Reset phone” to confirm
    5. Follow the on-screen prompts to complete the reset

    Factory Reset via Recovery:

NOTE: If you are unable to reset the phone via Settings, alternatively you can try resetting the phone from the Android System Recovery menu which can be accessed by performing the following combination of button presses:

    1. First make sure the phone is powered off
    2. Then press and hold “Power” and “Volume down” at the same time
    3. Wait for up to 5 seconds and release both buttons. You should now have access to the “Boot Mode Selection” menu
    4. Press “Volume down” to highlight “Recovery
    5. Press “Volume Up” to select the highlighted option
    6. At the “No Command” screen, press and release “Power” and “Volume Up” at the same time. You should gain access to Android Recovery
    7. In Recovery mode, press “Volume down” repeatedly to navigate to and highlight “Wipe data/factory reset
    8. Press “Power” and select the highlighted option
    9. Select whether to delete “Userdata only” or “Userdata + personalized content
    10. Press “Power” and wait for the device to reset
    11. Once done, highlight “Reboot system now” and press “Power” one last time

    Check for Software Updates:

NOTE: After you reset your phone, it’s recommended to check if new software updates are available for download.

    1. Open “Settings
    2. Scroll to and tap “About phone” under “System
    3. Tap “System updates
    4. Check if new updates are available for download
    5. If applicable, follow the on-screen steps to download and apply updates (NOTE: the update process will require at least one reboot)
