How-to Moto E4 Plus: Tips to Improve and Conserve Battery Life

    Enable Battery Saving Mode:

    1. Launch “Settings
    2. Scroll to “Device
    3. Tap “Battery” > “Menu
    4. Enable “Battery saver

    Disable Unused Connectivity Features:

    NOTE: By disabling the phone’s connectivity features when unused, including Wi-Fi, Hotspot, Bluetooth, and GPS, you can improve battery life in the long run.

    1. Swipe the quick toggle menu down from the home scree
    2. Tap the “Wi-Fi”, “Bluetooth” and “Location” (GPS) quick toggles to disable the features
    3. Open “Settings
    4. For GPS options, go to “Location” and tap “Mode
    5. Enable “Battery saving
    6. To disable hotspot, return to “Settings” and tap “More” under “Wireless & Networks
    7. Tap “Tethering & portable hotspot” and set the feature off

    Switch to 2G Networks Temporarily:

    NOTE: If your phone runs low on battery and you don’t have quick access to a battery bank or wall socket, you can conserve battery life until the next recharge by temporarily switching to 2G networks.

    1. Launch “Settings
    2. Tap “More” under “Wireless & Networks
    3. Tap “Mobile networks” > “Preferred network type
    4. Enable “2G

    Lower the Screen Brightness and Timeout Duration:

    1. On the home screen, swipe the status bar down
    2. Drag the brightness slider towards the left to decrease luminosity
    3. For more options, open “Settings” and scroll to “Device
    4. Tap “Display” and optionally, enable or disable “adaptive brightness
    5. Tap “Sleep” for timeout options and select a lower timeout value

    Minimize Third Party App Usage:

    NOTE: Certain third party apps perform regular background processes which can potentially affect battery life even when not in use. By disabling or removing unused third party apps, you can improve battery life in the long run.

    1. Launch “Settings
    2. Scroll to “Device
    3. Tap “Apps
    4. Ensure “All apps” is selected in the drop-down menu at the top
    5. Select the desired app
    6. To turn the app off, tap “Force Stop
    7. To remove the app, tap “Uninstall

    Reduce Sync:

    NOTE: By changing your accounts’ sync options to reduce sync, you can improve battery life in the long run.

    1. Launch “Settings
    2. Scroll to “Personal
    3. Tap “Accounts
    4. Tap the desired account
    5. Change the available settings to reduce sync

    Keep the OS Up To Date:

    NOTE: Software updates can include improvements to battery life and as such, it’s recommended to keep the OS up to date at all times. To check for updates:

    1. Launch “Settings
    2. Scroll to and tap “About phone
    3. Tap “System updates
    4. Verify if a new update is available and if applicable, follow the on-screen steps to complete the download (NOTE: the update process will require you to reboot the phone at least once)
