How-to Moto Z2 Force Edition: Back Up & Restore App Data, Contacts, and Media

    Back Up & Restore App Data:

    1. Open “Settings
    2. Scroll to “Personal
    3. Tap “Backup & reset” and enable “Back up my data
    4. Enable “Automatic restore” to allow app data, settings, and Wi-Fi passwords to be restored automatically when signing in with your Google backup account or when reinstalling apps

    Back Up & Restore Contacts:

    1. Launch “Settings
    2. Scroll to and tap “Accounts
    3. Select an account type and the account you want to use for contact backup
    4. Enable “Contacts” if needed and tap “Menu” > “Sync Now

    NOTE: Contacts backed up using this method can be restored automatically the next time you sign in with your Google backup account.

    Back Up Media Files on a Windows PC:

    1. Connect the Motorola device to your computer via USB
    2. Enable “File Transfer” / “Media device” at the prompt or from the “Notification” area
    3. Launch the File Explorer on the computer
    4. Locate and copy the desired media files on the phone storage
    5. Paste the files in the desired backup location on the computer
    6. Once the transfer is done, eject the phone storage via system tray and safely disconnect the device from the USB port

    Restore Media Files from a Windows PC:

    1. Connect the Motorola device to your computer via USB
    2. Enable “Media device” / “File Transfer” when prompted or from the “Notification” area
    3. Open the File Explorer on the computer
    4. Locate the media file backups on the PC storage
    5. Copy and transfer the media backup files on the phone storage, preferably in the “Media” directory or the folders of origin
    6. After the transfer ends, eject the phone storage via system tray and you can safely disconnect the phone from the USB port
