How-to Moto Z2 Force Edition: Tips to Conserve and Improve Battery Life

    Enable Battery Saving Mode:

    1. Open “Settings
    2. Scroll to “Device” and tap “Battery
    3. Tap “Menu” and enable “Battery saver

    Lower the Screen Brightness and Timeout Duration:

    1. Swipe the status bar down from the home screen
    2. Drag the brightness slider towards the left side of the screen
    3. For additional options, open “Settings
    4. Scroll to “Device” and tap “Display
    5. Optionally, turn “Adaptive brightness” On or Off
    6. Tap “Sleep” for timeout options and select a lower value

    Disable Unused Connectivity Features:

    NOTE: By disabling the phone’s connectivity features when unused, including Wi-Fi, Hotspot, GPS, and Bluetooth, you can improve battery life in the long run.

    1. Swipe the Status bar down on the home screen
    2. Tap the “Wi-Fi”, “Bluetooth” and “Location” quick toggles to disable the features
    3. Open “Settings
    4. For GPS options, go to “Location”, tap “Mode” and enable “Battery saving
    5. To disable Hotspot, go back to “Settings” and tap “More” under “Wireless & Networks
    6. Tap “Tethering & portable hotspot” and set the option off

    Switch to 2G Networks Temporarily:

    NOTE: In case your phone runs low on battery and you don’t have quick access to a battery bank or wall socket, you can conserve battery life until the next recharge by temporarily switching to 2G networks.

    1. Launch “Settings
    2. Tap “More” under “Wireless & Networks
    3. Tap “Mobile networks
    4. Select “Preferred network type” and enable “2G

    Reduce Sync:

    NOTE: By changing your accounts’ sync settings to reduce sync, you can improve battery life in the long run.

    1. Open “Settings
    2. Scroll to “Personal
    3. Go to “Accounts” and select the desired account
    4. Change the available settings to reduce sync

    Minimize Third Party App Usage:

    NOTE: Some third party apps perform regular background processes that can potentially affect battery life even when not actively in use. By disabling or removing unused third party apps from the phone, you can improve battery life in the long run.

    1. Open “Settings
    2. Scroll to “Device” and tap “Apps
    3. Ensure “All apps” is selected from the drop-down menu and select the desired app
    4. Tap “Force Stop” to disable the app or:
    5. Tap “Uninstall” to remove the app from the phone

    Keep the OS Updated:

    NOTE: OS updates can include improvements to battery life, and thus it’s recommended to keep the OS up to date at all times. To check for updates:

    1. Launch “Settings
    2. Scroll to and tap “About phone
    3. Tap “System updates” and verify if a new update is available for download
    4. If applicable, follow the on-screen steps to download and apply the update. NOTE: the process will require at least one reboot
