How-to Motorola DROID MAXX 2: Back Up & Restore Personal Data

    Back Up App Data:
    1. Open the apps drawer
    2. Launch “Settings"
    3. Scroll to “Personal” and tap “Backup & reset
    4. Turn on “Back up my data” to back up settings, Wi-Fi passwords, and account data on your Google account
    5. Enable “Automatic restore” to set your account to automatically restore app data upon reinstallation
    NOTE: App data will be restored automatically when signing in with your Google backup account for the first time, or after a master reset.

    Back Up Contacts:
    1. Launch “Settings
    2. Tap “Accounts” and select the desired account to sync contacts with
    3. Tap “Menu” > “Sync now
    NOTE: The contacts you have backed up using the method above will be restored automatically upon the first time you sign in with your Google backup account for the first time, or after a factory reset.

    Back Up Media Files on a Windows Computer:
    1. Connect the DROID MAXX 2 to your computer via USB
    2. Drag the “Notification” bar down and enable “Media sync (MTP)
    3. Launch an Explorer window on the PC and locate the media files on your smartphone
    4. Copy the desired files and transfer them on the computer in the desired backup location
    5. After the transfer is complete, eject the phone storage via the system tray and safely disconnect the phone from the USB connector
    Restore Media Files from a Windows PC:
    1. Connect the DROID MAXX 2 to your computer via USB
    2. On the home screen, swipe the “Notification” bar down and make sure “Media Sync (MTP)” is turned on
    3. Open an Explorer window on the PC and locate the media files backed up on the computer
    4. Copy and transfer the files on the phone storage, preferably in the “Media” folder
    5. After the transfer is done, eject the phone storage from the system tray and safely disconnect the phone from the PC
