How-to Motorola DROID MAXX 2: Transfer Audio Files and Set Custom Ringtones & Notification Sounds

    Transfer Audio Files from a Windows Computer:
    1. Connect the DROID MAXX 2 to your PC via USB
    2. Swipe the “notification” bar down on the home screen, and make sure the phone is connected as a “Media device (MTP)
    3. Launch an Explorer window on the computer and locate the media files
    4. Copy the desired audio files from the computer
    5. Transfer the files on your phone storage, preferably under the “Media” directory, in the “Ringtones” / “Notification” / “Alarms” folder(s)
    6. Once the transfer is done, click “Safely Remove Mass Storage Device” in the system tray to eject the phone storage
    7. Safely disconnect the device from the USB
    Change the Phone Ringtone:
    1. Open the apps drawer
    2. Launch “Settings” and scroll to “Device
    3. Tap “Sound” and scroll to “Call ringtone & vibrate
    4. Tap “Phone ringtone” and select the desired ringtone
    5. Tap “OK
    6. Optionally, you can enable or disable “Also vibrate for calls
    Change a Specific Contact’s Ringtone:

    NOTE: Custom ringtones cannot be set for contacts that are stored on the SIM card or the phone’s internal memory.
    1. Launch “Contacts
    2. Select the desired contact
    3. Tap “Edit” and press “Menu
    4. Tap “Set ringtone” and select the desired ringtone
    5. Tap “OK” to confirm and set the ringtone
    Change the Notification Sound:
    1. Go to the phone’s “Settings” menu
    2. Scroll to “Device” and tap “Sound & notification
    3. Tap “Default Notification Sound” under “Sound
    4. Select the desired notification sound and tap “OK
