How-to Motorola Moto E5 Play: Back Up & Restore App Data, Contacts, and Media Files

    Back Up & Restore App Data:

    1. Open “Settings
    2. Access “Personal
    3. Tap “Backup & Reset
    4. Enable “Back up my data” to back up app data, settings, and Wi-Fi passwords to your backup account
    5. Enable “Automatic Restore” to allow app data, settings, and passwords to be restored automatically the next time you sign in with the backup account

    Back Up & Restore Contacts:

    1. Launch “Contacts
    2. Access “Accounts
    3. Select an account type and the desired account to use for the backup
    4. Make sure the “Contacts” checkbox is ticked
    5. Tap “Menu” > “Sync Now

    NOTE: Contacts can be automatically restored the next time you log in with the backup account or by manually syncing the account data and contacts with the Android device.

    Back Up Media Files on a Windows PC:

    1. Connect the Android phone to the computer via USB
    2. On the phone, enable “File Transfer” / “Media device” when prompted or from the Notification area
    3. Launch the File Explorer on the computer
    4. Locate the media files on the phone
    5. Copy and paste the files to the desired backup location on the PC
    6. After the transfer completes, eject the phone storage and safely disconnect the device from the USB port

    Restore Media Files from a PC:

    1. Connect the Android device to the computer via USB
    2. On the phone, enable “Media device” / “File Transfer” when prompted or from the Notification area
    3. Launch the File Explorer on the computer
    4. Locate the media backup files on the PC storage
    5. Copy and transfer the files to the phone storage, preferably in the folders from where they originate
    6. After the transfer completes, eject the phone storage and safely disconnect the device from the USB port
