How-to Motorola Moto E5 Play: Tips to Improve and Conserve Battery Life

    Enable Battery Saving Mode:

    1. Open “Settings
    2. Access “Device
    3. Tap “Battery” > “Menu
    4. Enable “Battery saver

    Lower the Screen Brightness and Timeout Duration:

    1. On the home screen, swipe the Status bar down
    2. Drag the brightness slider towards the left to decrease luminosity
    3. Open “Settings
    4. Go to “Display” and optionally, enable or disable “Adaptive brightness
    5. For timeout options, tap “Sleep” and select a lower value

    Disable Unused Connectivity Features:

    NOTE: You can disable the phone’s connectivity features when not actively in use – including Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, Location (GPS), and Hotspot – to avoid unnecessary network scans and potentially improve battery life in the long run.

    1. Swipe the Status bar down on the home screen
    2. Tap the “Wi-Fi” > “Location” and “Bluetooth” quick toggles to disable the features
    3. Open “Settings
    4. Go to “Location” for additional GPS options
    5. Tap “Mode” and enable “Battery saving
    6. For Hotspot options, return to “Settings” and tap “More” under “Wireless & networks
    7. Tap “Tethering & portable hotspot” and disable the feature

    Switch to 2G Networks Temporarily:

    NOTE: If your phone runs low on battery and you don’t have quick access to a wall socket or battery bank, you can conserve energy until the next recharge by temporarily switching to 2G networks.

    1. Open “Settings
    2. Tap “More” under “Wireless & Networks
    3. Tap “Mobile networks
    4. Go to “Preferred network type
    5. Enable “2G

    Change Sync Settings:

    NOTE: You can change your accounts’ settings to reduce sync and potentially improve battery life in the long run.

    1. Open “Settings
    2. Go to “Personal
    3. Tap “Accounts
    4. Select an account type and the desired account
    5. Change the settings to reduce sync as desired

    Minimize Third-Party App Usage:

    NOTE: Certain third-party apps perform regular background processes that can potentially affect battery life even when the apps are not actively in use. By disabling or removing unused third-party apps, you can potentially improve battery life in the long run.

    1. Launch “Settings
    2. Go to “Apps
    3. Ensure “All apps” is selected
    4. Tap the desired application
    5. Tap “Force Stop” / “Disable” to turn the app off
    6. To remove the app, tap “Uninstall

    Keep the OS Up To Date:

    NOTE: OS updates can improve battery life and it’s recommended to keep the OS up to date at all times. To check for updates:

    1. Open “Settings
    2. Access “System updates
    3. Check if new updates are available for download
    4. If applicable, follow the on-screen steps to download and apply the update
