How-to Motorola Moto G6: Factory Reset via Settings/Android Recovery

    WARNING! When you factory reset your device, all your personal data stored on the phone storage will be deleted, including downloaded content and media files, ringtones, contacts, apps etc. In addition, all settings will be restored to factory values, however, data located on the SIM and SD cards won’t be affected.

    NOTE: Before resetting the phone, you can check this thread for instructions on how to back up and restore app data, contacts, and media files.

    Factory Reset via Settings:

    1. Open “Settings
    2. Go to “Backup & reset
    3. In case your device is protected by a lock screen, enter your password/PIN to proceed
    4. When ready, tap “Reset phone” and follow the on-screen prompts

    Factory Reset via Android Recovery:

    1. If necessary, turn the phone Off
    2. Next, press and hold “Power” and “Volume down” at the same time
    3. In the “Boot Mode Selection” menu, release the keys
    4. Then, press “Volume down” repeatedly to navigate “Recovery
    5. Press “Volume Up” to select the highlighted option
    6. At the “No Command” screen, press and release “Power” and “Volume Up” for several times to access Recovery
    7. Navigate the Recovery menu using “Volume down” and highlight “Wipe data/factory reset
    8. Press “Power” to select the highlighted option
    9. Then, highlight “Userdata only” or “Userdata + personalized content
    10. Press “Power” to confirm
    11. Once the phone has been reset, ensure “Reboot system now” is highlighted and press “Power
