How-to Motorola Moto G6 Play: Back Up & Restore App Data, Contacts, and Media Files

    Back Up & Restore App Data:

    1. Open “Settings
    2. Access “Personal
    3. Tap “Backup & Reset
    4. Enable “Back up my data” to back up app data, settings, and Wi-Fi passwords to your backup account
    5. Enable “Automatic Restore” to allow app data, settings, and passwords to be automatically restored the next time you log in with the backup account

    Back Up & Restore Contacts:

    1. Launch “Contacts
    2. Access “All contacts
    3. Select an account type and the desired account for the backup
    4. Ensure the “Contacts” check box is ticked
    5. Tap “Menu” > “Sync Now

    NOTE: Contacts can be automatically restored the next time you sign in with the backup account or by manually syncing the account data and contacts with the Android phone.

    Back Up Media Files on a Windows PC:

    1. Connect the Android phone to the computer via USB
    2. On the phone, enable “File Transfer” / “Media device” when prompted or from the Notification area
    3. Launch the File Explorer on the PC
    4. Locate the media files on the phone and copy them
    5. Paste the files to the desired backup location on the PC storage
    6. After the transfer ends, eject the phone storage and safely disconnect the phone from the USB port

    Restore Media Files from a PC:

    1. Establish a USB connection between the PC and Android device
    2. On the phone, enable “Media device” / “File Transfer” when prompted or from the Notification area
    3. Launch the File Explorer on the PC
    4. Locate the media file backups on the computer
    5. Copy and paste the files to the phone storage, preferably in the folders from where they originate
    6. Once done, eject the phone storage and safely disconnect the device from the USB cord
