How-to Motorola Moto G6 Play: Factory Reset via Settings/Android Recovery

    WARNING! When you factory reset your phone, all your personal data located on the device will be deleted, including downloaded media files, ringtones, apps, contacts etc. Furthermore, all settings will be restored to factory values. Data located on the SIM and SD storage won’t be affected.

    NOTE: You can check this thread for a guide on how to backing up and restoring data before resetting the phone.

    Factory Reset via Settings:

    1. Launch “Settings
    2. Access “Backup & reset
    3. If your phone is protected by a lock screen, enter your PIN/password
    4. Tap “Reset phone” and follow the on-screen prompts

    Factory Reset via Android Recovery:

    1. Turn the phone off if necessary
    2. Then, press and hold “Volume down” and “Power” at the same time
    3. From the “Boot Mode Selection” menu release the buttons
    4. Press “Volume down” repeatedly to navigate to and highlight “Recovery
    5. Press “Volume Up” to select the highlighted option
    6. At the “No Command” screen press and release “Power” and “Volume up” several times to gain access to Recovery
    7. Once in Recovery, navigate the menu by pressing “volume down” and highlight “Wipe data/factory reset
    8. Press “Power” to select the option
    9. Next highlight “Userdata only” or “Userdata + personalized content
    10. Press “Power
    11. After the phone resets, make sure “Reboot system now” is highlighted then press “Power
