There is a somewhat overlooked downside to SIM's. Since all
the identity is on the SIM (including the phone's) the value
of stolen phones goes way up. Steal the phone and toss the
SIM. Now the phone has full value. On the other hand try to
activate a stolen VZW phone and chances are that the ESN is
    blacklisted. just a nit.

Can you tell me when this upgrade is expected, and what it involves?
I was just getting ready to buy two 4400's for my wife and son.
    Thanks a lot in advance.

The 'Phantom' is made by Kyocera

Verizon never actually sold them directly, thus it's not on their website.
They did approve them for indirect/dealer sale though (independent, RS,
etc). It's a fairly old model anyways, having originally come out about a
    year ago.

I bought one off of eBay last December to compare with my Kyo3035, as
they're the only flush antenna candybar style phones VZW's had offered until
the recent Nokia 3589i. The SE t61c is still the only 1X-BT phone ever
available for VZW. Though not officially supported per SE, google and you'll
find that some adventurous souls were able to confirm that the DBA-10 BT
dongle did indeed work the same with the t61c (CDMA) as it did on the
    t60d/LX (TDMA) models.
