Good Lord don't let the nut in the Nextel forum see this post. He thinks
there is a secret conspiracy to distance Verizon Wireless from Verizon.

Looks like AT&T Wireless, Inc., is a public company with consolidated and
unconsolidated subsidiaries. John Zeglis owns about 166,000 shares,
according to SEC filings. Ticker symbol AWE, stock price as of about 10
minutes ago was $8.46 per share. About 2.3 billion shares outstanding. It
    just purchased Telecorp.

AT&T is also public, stock symbol "T". About 1 billion shares issued, about
    171 million in treasury.

Looks like the two companies are unrelated now. AT&T Wireless was McCaw
Cellular Communications until 1994, when AT&T Corp purchased it. AT&T
Wireless was a sub of AT&T Corp until it's IPO in 2000, which raised $900
million less than it cost AT&T to purchase McCaw Cellular Communications 6
    years earlier.

Yep, had to. Even VZN is learning to distance themselves. Monopoly
is an ugly word. Sadly, they include each other when doing a credit
check. If you owe money to the land line then wireless will not be too
    interested in you.

It truly is amazing how many people can't comprehend the correlation
between NOT PAYING BILLS and BAD CREDIT. Not until I got into the
business of selling wireless phones did it occur to me just how stupid the
    general population is.

A little more info. In July of 2001 AT&T Wireless was spun off to AT&T
stockholders at the rate of 0.3218 shares per AT&T share. At that time
it had a stock value of $15.94 90% higher than present. AT&T retained
7.4 % of the stock, and remains the largest shareholder in AT&T wireless.
