How-to Samsung Galaxy J3 Emerge: Tips to Improve and Conserve Battery Life

    Enable Battery Saving Mode:

    1. Launch “Settings
    2. Scroll to “System
    3. Tap “Battery
    4. Enable “Battery saving mode
    5. Tap “Start power saving
    6. Select a battery percentage at which the mode enables automatically

    Disable Unused Connectivity Features and Switch to 2G Networks:

    NOTE: By disabling your phone’s connectivity features, including Wi-Fi, GPS, Bluetooth, and Hotspot, you can improve battery life in the long run. In addition, you can temporarily switch to 2G networks to conserve battery life until the next recharge if you don’t have quick access to a wall socket or battery bank.

    1. Open “Settings
    2. Go to “Connections
    3. Turn the available connectivity options Off
    4. Tap “Tethering & Mobile Hotspot” and disable the option
    5. To switch to 2G networks, return to “Settings
    6. Then tap “Connections” > “More connection settings
    7. Tap “Mobile networks” > “Network mode
    8. Tap “GSM only

    Lower the Screen Brightness and Timeout Duration:

    1. Launch “Settings
    2. Scroll to “Device
    3. Tap “Display
    4. Optionally” enable or disable “Automatic brightness
    5. To decrease brightness, drag the slider towards the left side of the screen
    6. For screen timeout options, return to “Display”, tap “Screen timeout” and select a lower value

    Minimize Third Party App Usage:

    NOTE: Certain third party apps perform regular background processes which can potentially affect battery life when not actively in use. Thus by disabling or removing unused third party apps, you can improve battery life in the long run.

    1. Open “Settings
    2. Scroll to “Device
    3. Tap “Applications” > “Application manager
    4. Go to “Downloaded”
    5. Select the desired app and tap “Force Stop” / “Disable” to disable the app
    6. To remove the app from the phone, tap “Uninstall” > “OK” to confirm

    Disable Background Data:

    1. Open “Settings
    2. Tap “Data usage” under “Connections
    3. Tap “More” > “Restrict background data
    4. Press “OK” to confirm

    Change Sync Settings:

    NOTE: By reducing the amount of data your accounts sync regularly, you can improve battery life in the long run.

    1. Open “Settings
    2. Scroll to “Personal
    3. Tap “Accounts
    4. Select an account type and the desired account
    5. Clear the check boxes associated with the options you want to turn off
    6. Tap “Menu” > “Sync Now

    Keep the OS updated:

    NOTE: OS updates can include battery life improvements, and thus it’s recommended to keep the OS up to date at all times. To check for updates:

    1. Launch “Settings
    2. Scroll to “System” and tap “About device
    3. Check if a new update is available
    4. If applicable, follow the on-screen prompts to download and apply any available updates. NOTE: the update process will require at least one reboot
