How-to Samsung Galaxy J3 V (2018): Back Up App Data, Contacts, and Media Files

    Back Up App Data:

    1. Launch “Settings” and access “Cloud and account
    2. Tap “Backup & Restore
    3. Enable “Back up my data” to back up app data, Wi-Fi passwords, and settings to your backup account
    4. Enable “Automatic Restore” to allow app data, settings, and Wi-Fi passwords to be automatically restored the next time you reinstall apps or sign in with the backup account

    Back Up Contacts:

    1. Launch “Contacts
    2. Access “Cloud and account
    3. Go to “Accounts
    4. Select the desired account for the backup and ensure “Contacts” is checked
    5. When ready, tap “Menu” > “Sync Now

    Back Up Contacts to SD Storage:

    1. Open “Contacts
    2. Tap “Menu
    3. Access “Settings
    4. If necessary, switch to “All contacts
    5. Tap “Import/Export” > “Export to SD
    6. Tap “OK

    Back Up Media Files to Phone Storage:

    1. Launch “My Files
    2. Access “Internal storage
    3. Tap “Menu” > “Share
    4. Select the desired contacts and tap “Share
    5. Select a backup location

    Back Up Media Files on a Windows PC:

    1. Connect the Android phone to the computer via USB
    2. On the phone, enable “Media device” / “File Transfer” when prompted or from the Notification area
    3. Go to the phone storage
    4. Copy and paste the media files from the phones, to the desired backup location on the PC
    5. Once the transfer ends, eject the phone storage and safely disconnect the device from the USB port

    Back Up Media Files on a Mac:

    NOTE: If Samsung Kies is already installed on the Mac, skip the first 3 steps below.

    1. Launch the Internet browser on the Mac
    2. Head down to https://www.samsung.com/uk/support/kies/
    3. Click “Download for Mac” and install the software on the Mac
    4. Establish a USB connection between the Android device and Mac
    5. On the phone, enable “Media device” / “File Transfer” at the prompt or from the Notification area
    6. Open Kies on the Mac and go to “Back up / Restore
    7. Access “Backup” and check the tick boxes associated with the media file types you want to back up
    8. Click “Backup” to begin the process
    9. Once done, drag the phone’s virtual drive from the desktop and drop it over the trash can to eject it
    10. You can safely disconnect the phone from the USB cord
