How-to Samsung Galaxy J7 V: Back Up & Restore App Data, Contacts and Media

    Back Up & Restore App Data:

    1. Open the apps drawer
    2. Launch “Settings
    3. Scroll to “Personal” and tap “Backup & reset
    4. Enable “Back up my data” to back up Wi-Fi passwords, app data and settings to your account
    5. Enable “Automatic Restore” to allow app data and settings to be restored automatically when reinstalling apps or signing in with the backup account

    Back Up Contacts Using a Samsung or Google Account:

    1. Open the apps drawer
    2. Launch “Contacts
    3. Tap “More” > “Settings
    4. To save phone contacts on your Google or Samsung account before the backup, tap “move device contacts to
    5. To proceed with the contact backup, go to “Settings” > “Accounts
    6. Select the Samsung or Google account you want to use for backup
    7. Tap “More” > “Sync Now

    NOTE: Contacts backed up using this method can be restored automatically the next time you sign in with your Google / Samsung backup account.

    Back up Media Files on a Windows PC:

    1. Launch the Internet browser on the computer
    2. Head down to http://www.samsung.com/us/support/smart-switch-support/#!/
    3. Click “Samsung Smart Switch for PC” and allow the app to install on the computer
    4. Once done, connect the Samsung device to your computer via USB
    5. Enable “File Transfer” / “Media device” on the phone when prompted or from the “Notification” area
    6. Launch the File Explorer on the computer
    7. Locate the media files on the phone and copy them
    8. Transfer the files in the desired backup location on the PC storage
    9. After the transfer is done, eject the phone storage via system tray and safely disconnect the phone from the USB cord

    Restore Media Files from a Windows PC:

    1. Follow the first 5 steps in the guide above
    2. Then, launch the File Explorer on the computer
    3. Locate the media file backups on the computer storage
    4. Copy and transfer the files back on the phone storage, preferably in the “Media” directory or the folder(s) they originate from
    5. After the transfer is done, eject the phone storage via system tray and safely disconnect the device from the USB port

    Back Up Media Files on a Mac:

    NOTE: Skip the first 3 steps if Samsung Kies is already installed on the Mac.

    1. Open the Internet browser on the Mac
    2. Head down to http://www.samsung.com/us/support/owners/app/kies
    3. Click “Download for Mac” and follow the on-screen steps to install Kies on the Mac
    4. Connect the Samsung device to the Mac via USB
    5. Enable “File Transfer” / “Media device” on the phone when prompted or from the “Notification” area
    6. Open Samsung Kies on the Mac
    7. In Kies, click the “Back up / restore” tab
    8. Access the “Back up” tab and tick the boxes next to “Music”, “Photos” and other media file types you want to back up
    9. Click “Backup
    10. After the process is done, drag the phone’s virtual drive from the desktop and drop it into the “Trash can
    11. You can now safely disconnect the phone from the USB cord

    Restore Media Files from a Mac Computer:

    1. Follow the first 5 steps above and launch Kies on the Mac
    2. In Kies, click the “Back up / restore” tab
    3. Go to “Restore
    4. Tick the boxes next to “Music”, “Photos” and other media file types you want to restore
    5. Click “Restore” to start the sync and if necessary, follow the on-screen prompts to complete the process
    6. Once the process is complete, eject the phone storage by dragging the virtual drive from the desktop and dropping it into the “Trash can
    7. You can now safely disconnect the device from the USB cord

    To Back Up & Restore App Data, Contacts and Media on Samsung Galaxy J7 to computer, first connect it to computer via usb cable. Here you need an Android Assistant tool. With its help, you can backup data on Samsung Galaxy J7 to PC with one-click.
