How-to Samsung Galaxy Note 9: Restore Contacts and Media Files

    NOTE: For instructions on how to back up app data, contacts, and media files on the phone, check this thread.

    Restore Contacts from SD Storage:

    1. Open “Contacts
    2. Tap “Menu” > “Settings
    3. Access “Contacts to display” and select “All contacts
    4. Tap Import/Export contacts” > “Import from SD card
    5. Press “OK

    Restore Media Files from SD Storage:

    1. Launch “My Files
    2. Go to “SD Card
    3. Tap “Menu” > “Edit” and tick the boxes associated with the media files you want to restore
    4. Tap “Menu” > “Move
    5. Go to “Internal storage” then tap “Move here” or “Create folder
    6. Select the desired folder and tap “Move here

    Restore Media Files from a PC:

    1. Connect the Android phone to the PC via USB
    2. On the phone, enable “File Transfer” / “Media device” at the prompt or from the Notification area
    3. Open the File Explorer on the PC
    4. Copy and paste the files to the phone storage, preferably in the folders of origin
    5. Once done, eject the phone storage and safely disconnect the phone from the USB port

    Restore Media Files from a Mac:

    1. Connect the Android phone to the Mac via USB
    2. Enable “Media device” / “File Transfer” on the phone, when prompted or from the Notification area
    3. Open Kies on the Mac
    4. Access “Back up / Restore
    5. Click “Restore” and tick the check boxes next to the media files you want to restore
    6. Once done, eject the phone storage by dragging the virtual drive from the desktop and dropping it over the trash can
    7. Safely disconnect the device from the USB port
