How-to Samsung Galaxy S9: Back Up App Data, Contacts, and Media

    Back Up App Data:

    1. Open “Settings
    2. Scroll to and access “Cloud and accounts
    3. Tap “Backup & restore
    4. Enable “Back up my data” to back up app data, settings, and passwords to your backup account
    5. Enable “Automatic restore” to allow app data, settings, and passwords when reinstalling apps or signing in with the backup account

    Back Up Contacts:

    1. Launch “Settings
    2. Go to “Cloud and accounts
    3. Access “Accounts
    4. Select the account you want to use for syncing the contacts
    5. Tap “Menu” > “Sync Now

    Back Up Contacts to SD Storage:

    1. Open “Contacts
    2. Tap “Menu” and go to “Settings
    3. Switch to “All contacts” if necessary
    4. Tap “Import/Export contacts
    5. Tap “Export to SD” > “OK” to confirm

    Back Up Media Files on the Phone Storage:

    1. Launch “My Files
    2. Go to “Internal storage
    3. Tap “Menu” > “Share
    4. Select the contact you want to back up
    5. Tap “Share” again and select the desired backup location

    Back Up Media Files on a Windows PC:

    1. Connect the Samsung device to your computer via USB
    2. Enable “File Transfer” / “Media device” at the prompt or from the “Notification” area
    3. Launch the File Explorer on the PC
    4. Locate the media files on the phone
    5. Copy and paste the files to the desired backup location on the PC
    6. Once done, eject the phone storage and safely disconnect the device from the USB cord

    Back Up Media Files on a Mac Computer:

    NOTE: You can skip the first 3 steps if Samsung Kies is already installed on the Mac.

    1. Open the Internet browser on the Mac
    2. Head down to https://www.samsung.com/us/support/owners/app/kies
    3. Click “Download for Mac” and follow the on-screen prompts to install the app on the computer
    4. Connect the Android device to the Mac via USB
    5. On the phone, enable “File Transfer” / “Media device” at the prompt or from the Notification area
    6. Launch Kies on the Mac and go to “Back up / Restore
    7. Access the “Backup” tab
    8. Tick the boxes associated with “Music”, “Photos” and other media file types you want to back up
    9. Click “Backup” to begin the process
    10. Once done, eject the phone storage by dragging the virtual drive from the desktop and dropping it over the “Trash can” to eject it
    11. You can safely disconnect the device from the USB port

    Samsung data manager tool allows us to Back Up App Data, Contacts, and Media on Samsung Galaxy S9 on pc via usb cable. With one-click, we can easily backup data on Samsung Galaxy S9 to pc.
