This is how to get free movies and videos on your Verizon phone

Discussion in 'alt.cellular.verizon' started by Streetlightman@gmail.com, Jul 22, 2006.

  1. This is what you need to get started

    A Verizon phone with a memory card [i have a Samsung A-950]
A program that converts videos to .3g2 [get one from Xilisoft]
    A little bit of time

Ok..first of all..your phone MUST be able to take video. First take a
video and save it. Go to My Flix. On my phone, it says the file
name.3g2. If your says .3g2 or .3gp, read on. .3g2 stands for 3rd
Generation Partnership Project 2. .3gp stands for 3rd Generation
Partnership Project. It doesn't really matter, I figured I would just
tell you. Anyway, if it says either of those formats read on.

Now, put your memory card into the computer. On the memory card, there
should be a folder called MY_FLIX, if there isn't alread make one. It
MUST be MY_FLIX, typed like that.

Now, you need the software to convert the videos. Go to Xilisoft's
website and look for either the 3GP converter or the Video Converter.
Neither are free. I bought the Video Converter and it's awesome. Now,
you can be like me and buy it or download it via Bittorrent or any
other p2p network. If you are going to buy it, I suggest the Video
Converter because it is only 5 dollars more than the 3GP converter and
the Video Converter converts any video to any format [yes even iPod].
Before you go out and buy it, download the free trial. It can only do
like 30 seconds but you can try it just to see if it works. Download
    and install.

Open the program, follow instructions. Convert it. Boom, you created
a 3g2 video file. Copy and paste it into the MY_FLIX folder on your
phone. Go to My Flix on your phone and the video should be there.
    Make sure it plays. Congrats.

TIP: When you are converting the file be sure to have one of the
    settings set as same_quality: true....not false..it looks a hell of a
lot better when its true. It also takes up more space on the card. If
you have space, use this setting.

Or download it from alt.binaries.movies.divx on usenet, without exposing
    your IP to the MPAA lawyers office on p2p....(c;

Super C does a great job converting to the 3GP and 3GP2 formats and it's
    free.
