Here's what a caller hears on mine (Chicago market):

"Your call has been forwarded to an automated voice messaging system. <my
voice saying my name> is not available. At the tone, record your message.
When you've finished, you can hang up, or, press 1 for more options. To
leave a callback number, press 5. <5 seconds silence><very short beep that
they might miss in a noisy environment>"

    Total time: 20 seconds.

I believe I have an option to do it a different way, possibly with me
recording more than just my name, but I liked this way better.

This system was installed by Verizon, replacing the one from Ameritech.
