Need to remove and add some buddies for my AOL Instant Messenger
lists to use with my Verizon Wireless cell phone. Been using the
service for months, but need to make some changes in list of
30 names allowed for this. If you go to

    http://mymobile.aol.com/portal/im/phones.html

has links for various carriers at bottom. If select Verizon
Wireless, it has no link to Setup Phone Book like it used to
(tried with two different browsers including IE, so unless totally
overlooked something). If select FREEUP another Verizon service
I not have, it does have the link. Is this someone's oversight
or intentional? Not sure who whether Verizon or AOL to contact,
but hopefully one of their reps will see this.

In interim, did see a workaround in the user guide. You can
log onto AOL IM wireless with your cell phone, then enter command
4653 with text of help to give you list of buddies with 4-digit
codes. Not as convenient as having a printout from the web to
enter names and numbers, plus it costs you some $change for all
the text messages received and sent from your cell phone.

The Verizon link sends me to a .pdf file that contains the information you
    are looking for:

Thanks, Mary. That's what ended up doing. Fortunately only a few
names to update. It used to be you could get a printout of your
buddy names and numbers through the web. Doing by having multiple
messages sent to your cell phone (a money maker for VZW) is not
convenient when you have to continually have to swtich screens
between your phone Inbox and your phone Phonebook. If VZW really
wants to make this convenient and make extra make money too, they
should do what my 2nd cell phone carrier ATTWS does. With ATTWS,
you can set up your AOL IM phone book via the web, but it also
gives you the option of sending all of AOL IM buddies names and
numbers to your cell phone as business cards saving you all that
time and risk of errors from manually entering.
