The Verizon Droid Charge is getting an update, but it's not an OS update as it will still run on Froyo. The update is a software update that will run version EE4 that will fix several bugs and include enhancements as well as performance improvements such as the battery life, call log with icons on entries that allows for a quicker callback, improved placement of the Visual VoiceMail app for outgoing calls and improved audio.

Other improvements include: browser performance, a new email folder, improvements to the email and calendar syncing, a better GPS, recognizable ringtones purchased through Verizon, and when the Droid Charge device is plugged into a PC or USB mass storage mode, it is now detectable. The most important part of the update seems to be the mobile hotspot functionality.

You can get the update OTA and your device will let you know there is an update available. As with many OTA updates, it may take a few dates for the update to roll out completely.
