I see the option on my VX6000 at menu/9/5/5 but when searching through
my manual I can't seem to find out what this option does.
What is the diff from standard and enhanced as well?

There is a capability in some areas with specific rate plans to add some
sort of enhanced digital privacy service to the account. I have never seen
this in action, and have only seen the necessary feature codes available
for the National SingleRate price plans.

FWIW, I remember back when PrimeCo first launched here in Richmond, there
was a feature in those old Sony handsets to turn Voice Privacy on and off.
There was supposed to be a different indicator on the screen for each one.
Back then (mid-90's) it had no effect, and even today on that same network
(now NTelos) it still has no impact.

Nokia has it too. It doesn't work in many areas. It works on Cellular One,
    NE Ohio though.

    James,

Any idea whether it's something that actually NEEDS to be provisioned on
the account (that is, does the carrier have to set it up) or does it just
magically work if all the other pieces of the puzzle exist (handset
    compatibility, network support, etc.)
