WARNING! When you master reset your smartphone, all data stored on the phone’s internal memory will be deleted, including contacts, media files and ringtones, downloaded content, apps etc. In addition, all settings will be restored to factory values. However, data located on the SIM and SD cards will not be affected.

NOTE: Before you master reset your phone, you can visit this thread for a guide on how to back up and restore personal data on the Samsung Galaxy J7 V.

    Master Reset via Settings:

    1. Open the apps drawer
    2. Launch “Settings” and scroll to “Personal
    3. Tap “Backup and reset
    4. Optionally, enable or disable “Back up my data” and “Restore
    5. Tap “Factory data reset” > “Reset device
    6. If your phone is protected by a lock screen, enter your PIN / password and tap “Continue
    7. Tap “Delete all” to confirm

    Factory Reset via Recovery:

NOTE: If your phone freezes, crashes, or otherwise prevents you from resetting it via “Settings”, alternatively you can try resetting the device from the Android Recovery menu. To access Recovery:

    1. Turn the phone OFF if necessary
    2. Then, press and hold “Power”, “Home” and “Volume Up” simultaneously
    3. At the “Samsung” logo, release “Power
    4. At the “Android” logo, release “Volume Up” and “Home” as well
    5. Once in Android System Recovery, press “volume down” repeatedly to highlight “Wipe data / factory reset
    6. Press “Power” to select the highlighted option
    7. Press “Volume down” to highlight “Yes – delete all user data
    8. Press “Power” to confirm and reset your phone
    9. Once the reset is done, highlight “Reboot system now
    10. Press “Power” one last time to reboot your device

    Check for OS Updates:

NOTE: It’s recommended to check for new software updates after factory resetting your device. To do this:

    1. Launch “Settings
    2. Scroll to and tap “About device
    3. Check if a new update is available and if applicable, follow the on-screen prompts to download and apply the update
