VX4400 Answering Machine

What is "Answering Machine" Mode? To experiment I made the following
    settings:

    FEATURES MENU:
    Auto Answer = "Answering Machine"

    VOICE SERVICES MENU:
    Answering Machine = "Speaker On"

Result: Callers hear the following canned (female) message: "Please record
at the tone." They leave their message. I don't get ANY message indicator
on the phone, there's no mention of a missed call, either on the display or
in the Missed Call log. Checked my voice mail, only to hear "You have no
un-heard messages." There IS a log of the call in the Incoming Calls list
    on the phone.

So what is this Answering Machine mode all about?

In that mode your messages are stored in your voice memo folder

Interesting! You're right - there they were. Still notification that
anything new gets put there, so I don't see why they have this feature.

Jesse, where do you learn these things? I couldn't find anything about this
feature, and others, in the VX4400 manual, or on LG's website, or on
    Verizon's site?

    Thanks!

    Mark,
Join the Yahoo group vx4400support. There is a lot of great information
about the 4400 and 4400b there.

You can also try one of the 4400 faq pages such as

I just got this phone for my daughter and want to use the GPS tracking
capability. Does anyone know if/where I can get tracking software for this
    phone?

You just need to ask her boyfriend <kidding>. BTW, I don't think the
software (if available) without hardware will be any good. And if the
software works with GPS unit like Garmin GPS (I already have 3 of them) =
    then
I may buy the software myself. just to locate it around the house.

There are a couple of places http://www.ulocate.com was the one I
remember from a News Com article http://www.ulocate.com/index.html
there are a few others but they escape me right now. Please note that
not all the companies carry verizon but may carry the individuals
    telephone.

ulocate.com doesn't work with Verizon, according to their FAQ. I don't
think Verizon's network supports GPS yet, even though the handsets do.

Thanks, but I already reviewed this site and they don't support Verizon.
    This is primarily for Nextel.
    Appreciate the response anyway!

You may be correct. Qualicomm has some subsidary company that has developed
CDMA GPS tracking software (company name escapes me), but I'm not sure
anyone has selected or is using it.

What is Garmin GPS and what good is a fully loaded shotgun (for the
    boyfriend) if I can't find them ;-)

I'm not sure I'd like to hear the answer to that also
